on 10 August 2007, the world lost another visionary. this week on radiohypno, we salute tony wilson: television host, music entrepreneur, founder of factory records, and the man who begat the hacienda, the club that would kick-start a new generation of dance music in the late 80’s.
this is the first, and quite possibly the last, time you’ll hear pete tong’s voice grace an episode of radiohypno, as i’ve appropriated his half of the most recent Essential Mix for this week’s show. he did a very admirable job in selecting songs from the factory records catalog, and his opening tribute, despite being read in his “Pete Tong Radio Voice” ™ seems to be heartfelt and genuine. i’ve also cut in some key snippets of speech by and about tony, for context, and so that you lot don’t think i’m completely slacking off this week.
the world will miss tony wilson, and the world needs more people LIKE tony wilson. rest in peace, sir.

back again after a week’s break. here’s the nutshell version: studiohypno got some much needed work over the last week and a half. the main studio computer has been built anew, and is getting all of it’s software installed (slowly…need to make a list next time). there should be a proper dj hypnotyza mix for next week’s show, then it’s off to the left coast for a week’s vacation. YO HOLMES, TO BEL AIRE!!!
but enough about that…let’s get to this week’s guest mix. i’ve been excited about the prospects of a mays mix since the idea of having guest mixes first popped into my scheming little brain knot. and this mix does not disappoint on ANY level.
this week brings a mix from the man behind the voice behind the “OH, that’s my SHIIIIIT” in the intro piece, john mays. mr. mays is a resident of northern virginia, and describes himself as an “all purpose monkey for hire“ , “view sourcer“, “universal noize maker“, “resident donkey“, and “that guy that was cooler than you in high school“. this is all true.
also of note, he’s a fine photographer, a ridiculously funny person, and he’s been known to drop a verse every now and then. this is a MAD HOT mix. i’m spoiling you, my faithful listeners, with mixes by people with exceptional taste. ok, coming down off the highest of horses now…til next week, y’all.

“california….knows how to party…” in a couple weeks, team radiohypno packs up its game and heads out west, to the sunny, sandy spot that is Los Angeles. in preparation for the left-coast trek, we bring you a guest mix from the lovely and talented sara flemming, aka .sara, who will be playing host to us in La La Land.
.sara is a professional web designer, and is teetering perilously on the edge between “amateur” and “professional” photography…i’ve seen a lot of her work, and lemmetellya: it’s damn good.
additionally, she is into graphic design, and has an un-healthy addiction to fonts. she also designed the only tattoo artwork to yet grace my skin. yet…

i feel like dancin’. no chazology this week, so instead of downloading, i have a minute to sift through the stuff i have. i still don’t have studiohypno up and running, so i can’t yet record a proper mix. i’ve got the itch and a relative assload of new-ish dance tracks from a gazillion different sources. so, i’ll go with the next best thing…some relatively sketchy editing gets us reasonably close to a fancy dancin’ set.
loads of exclusive edits, bloghouse tracks and other stuff you can’t buy on vinyl in here. lace up your trainers, down a pint or two and get busy.
