radiohypno is proud to present its first ever guest mix, and it’s hard for me to imagine that the bar could be set any higher…
jason c. has been a fixture in the nightlife of pittsburgh, pa for almost a decade. as the entertainment coordinator for Havana in the Shadyside district, Jason’s Thursday nights became synonymous with soulful house and techno music for over 7 years (more than two lifetimes for any other dance music weekly in the 412 area). the consistent quality of music, and the welcoming atmosphere of jason and brother mike (the resident reverend of the “deep house” religion) always made me feel welcome and at home at Havana.
along with jack wilson, jason writes and performs music under the EastsideSoul moniker. check out their myspace for some soulful beats (that will be featured in later radiohypno shows…).
i suppose it should be noted that jason doesn’t necessarily consider himself a “dj”. i guess 7 years of hosting the best that pittsburgh had to offer must have taught him a thing or two via osmosis…i know i’m gushing, but this mix is quality, folks.

I had a Jason C mix cd 4 summers ago that was fun, well programmed, and mixed well. I am looking forward to listening to this after that 4 year absence of Jason C mixtapes in my life.

This foray is slightly outside of Jason’s norm, and he still pulls it together brilliantly. Being a fan of trip-hop, ambient, and other down-tempo genres, I think he captures the feeling very well. All the while keeping some nice Jason C flavor on it. Truly inspired choices. And some nice technical work!
